BigDog handles heavy objects.

Now Boston Dynamics has released video of Big Dog the robot throwing a cinder block. There is complex technology in there, between swinging a heavy object and keeping a legged ‘bot’s balance. But of course as a viewer I am mostly just engrossed by watching a robot throw something with such destructive power. Technically, any assembly line robot could swing even heavier weights. But this robot is mobile, can run through forests, and now can throw extremely heavy objects quite a distance. Robot Smog begins to feel ever more personally threatening in the robot here-and-now that is arriving quickly [1].
